The wonderful thing about the online world is how stories hang around. Sure, it maybe a pain in the neck for those concerned with their reputation, but it’s great for someone like me who reviews how close media projections are to the real thing. The buzz that has caught my attention this year is all the media hype about property prices crashing. A friend of mine is on this as well and takes a photo on his camera every time he sees an inflammatory headline at a newspaper stand.
Well, I can be bothered with that. Rather, I prefer to search through news websites to find examples of misguided hype. As a quick aside, a lot of them put up articles from before when they started writing for the online world, so it’s quite interesting to see how they’ve developed over the years. I find a whole range of things. Sometimes, like in the predictions for Hussain Sajwani and Damac in this article, it’s almost eerie thinking how things have panned out so accurately. Other times, a prediction will be so misguided it’s laughable. More amusing still is when the comments, which are often added to over many years, reflect the changing situation.
